Subject: [Leica] Video vs Stills

Last week, following a family shoot in a local park, I came across an older
gentleman (at least older than me) who had a Sony (something) video camera,
on a tripod. I took a Leica shot of him with my M3 and 50 Summicron, and he
invited me to look at his video material. He opened the screen on the side
of the camera and showed me the images. There was a river with tall grasses
in the foreground, waving in the wind, another was of yellow flowers in
close up with honey bees flying in to attend the flowers - there were many
such images, mostly very beautiful. To prevent camera shake he uses a
remote control unit. He said that once he has edited the digital images he
adds music, records in video and plays them on a television screen for his
and the family's enjoyment. He no longer does still photography, but
appears to be a master of his photographic medium - room for us all !

Hugh (getting used to my M3) T.
