Actually Kyle I really liked your link. (And some of your commute shots
with your "M7" that are elsewhere on your site.)
It was precisely spurred on by my ranting (in the paragraphs before the one
you quoted above) about the niceties of my "cheap alternative" Walz Envoy
35 and its ability to synch normal flash upto 1/500 that I mentioned my
desire for being able to do the same with my interchangeable lensed Leicas.
I also would love to be able to continue using my early scale focus Kodak
Rettinette with its Schneider-Kreuznach 45/3.5...but alas the leaf blades
need de-oiling and so the shutter sticks open. It was my first camera and
is most responsible for getting me hooked on shooting so sometime here soon
I owe it to the sentimentality to get it fixed up.

As an update of sorts, I was talking about my flash desires with my local
shop (PhotoMarket in Portland, ME) and the owner, Pete, mentioned that
Canon and Nikon have flash units for their modern SLRs that will strobe
fast enough to allow for a fill flash effect at upto 1/1000 with their FP
shutters. What we have yet to ascertain is "will these flash units provide
the same use on an all manual camera, or does the body need to send a TTL
signal of some sort (telepathy?) to the flash in order to take advantage of
the use."

In the short run, to make full use of subject isolating DOF, I just bought
160NC Portra to use for the outside ceremony that I'm shooting Sunday and
will use my normal 800 speed Portra for the inside work.
