I too had problems with this lens until I figured out, thanks to Irwin's
site, that you really want to leave the thing at f5.6.  Stopped down any
further and it starts to go bad, very quickly.  Wide open too.  Just leave
it there, and adjust your shutter speed, and you'll get remarkable
results.
