Simon,

If you concerned about the filter contacting the front element of your 90AA,
try this little test. Put a small, thin piece of paper on the center of the
front element of your lens. Now thread the filter onto the lens. Turn the
lens sideways. If the paper moves about, your filter is not touching your
lens.
