Subject: Re: [Leica] Choosing a 50mm Summicron

As it happens, I'm scanning stuff I just shot with a collapsible Summicron
(#137xxxx) on my M3. I'm once again delighted by the rich, almost creamy
tones of b&w images--really an almost signature quality. I know that the
DR's are known for a very different character: very crisp sharpness; and
the modern lenses seem almost worlds apart from the earlier models. It may
be, as in nearly everything Leica optical, that you need to choose
according to your particular taste and/or budget.
