Subject: [Leica] M4-P with M4-2 serial number?

I've just purchased an M4-P, with full M4-P functionality, but I have a
quandary: the serial number is 1532***. According to the lists, this
should be an M4-2. What's the story here? Is it simply a serial number
out of sequence (as it's very close to the tale end of the M4-2 numbers,
and very close to the beginning of the M4-P numbers), or is it an M4-2
that was upgraded by the factory to an M4-P?

If the latter, do I have a proper M4-P, or some kind of odd hybrid?

Thanks in advance,

Doug Cooper

(Oh, and by the way: I *adore* this camera. I've mounted a Canon 50/1.4,
which -- according to Sherry -- gives me Winogrand's favorite
combination. Also using the new Color-Heliar 75mm; will report...)
