I use my G2 as a high end P&S with interchangeable lenses. I carry a combination of 35+90 and this serves almost of my needs. I envy those leica users who are able to focus without the help of the RF on their leicas and I could never get the hang of it. As I like to use leica lenses at full aperture, DOF will be narrow and so the option of hyperfocal distance settings is hardly of help here. My wish is that Leica would make click stops like that found on the Skopar so that I can get a tactile confirmation of the distance. While I like the feel and optics of the Leica more, I find that as my eyes get weaker with age, I am getting more useable shots with the G2. Exposure with the G2 is consistently good and almost 100% of my negs are printable without readjustment to the enlarger settings in between negatives and this helps me to print faster. >At one time I was very anal about focusing the M and my inability to >see the rangefinder images was a real aggravation. That is also my biggest bugbear against the G2. Somehow, seeing the image snap into focus is a great psychological boost. >The M still rules! Maybe so for the time being. When I get older, I believe I would be inclined to rely more and more on AF help and would probably find that my G2 will become more useful inspite of the current shortcomings. Dan K.
