Subject: [Leica] Leica Repair Service in US

Hi,

My one year old Leica M6 needed vertical alignment (I did not mis-use the
camera, can't understand how it got mis-aligned) so I sent in to the New
Jersey repair facility about two weeks ago. So far I have not received any
information from them about my camera. I tried to reach them and it is
really difficult to speak to a person other than their voice mail. Finally I
got hold of someone and he says he has no record of my camera being received
by them (he searched by last name, first name as I did not have my serial
number with me right now)

I thought may be I can get the serial number by calling the registration
dept, but the lady who deals with it is on vacation, and there is no one to
help me.

I CAN'T believe their service, the guy in the repair section, should have
access to the registration database. Seems like the Leica service dept,
functions like some third world country.

So the question to you LUGgers is, where do you turn to if we need any
repairs to the Leica equipment? Is this the ONLY place? if its I will have
to pray to GOD that I get no more repairs as I don't want to deal with them.

I MUST say that I am starting to like my M6 so much, that I did not use my
N**** stuff in a long time. Can we expect a new R camera at photokina later
this year, as the R8 is almost 4 years old. I am putting off my purchase of
R8 solely for this reason. May be you guys can shed some light on this.

BTW, I did ship my M6 by UPS with proper insurance. I just hope some one did
not steal my M6. The UPS website says that the camera was delivered on 04/24

Regards
