Subject: [Leica] CD lifespan

If you record your own CDs, the rewritable CDs have a lifespan which is
dependent on the color of the dye layer, and the type of metallic film
used on the top. Rewritable CDs are vulnerable through the top layer,
unlike prerecorded, and I believe write-once CDs. Different brands use
different dyes, and different 'levels' of quality use different metallic
coatings.
