I think this is the way to go!! I too, emulated a photographer friend down the
street by getting a separate printer for my black and white. With the Laser for
documents that's three printers on a metal shelf system here in my small office
which is starting to turn into an image realization room!
As far as the dots vs continuous goes i think the keyword is "apparent." Look at
a "silver gelatin (photograph) print" and you see the little dots which are the
gaps between pieces of silver; the grain. I imagine the Piezo dots would be so
small as to be in effect the same.
