I had a similarly excellent experience. My R8, six months old, went dead as
a door nail the week before a "Leica Days." I showed it to Brenda from NJ,
and the rep, Tom Brichta. They said to send it to Brenda's attention, and
the turn around time was about a week, including mailing, so it was in
Brenda's hands for maybe 48 hours. Couldn't as for anything more.
