I am responding to the discussion of the 19 mm R 2.8 lens.

In discussing the R 19mm, someone commented that he finds the Leica
knocked the spots off a Cannon lens.

My experience with Lieca R and M lenses has been that they all knock the
spots off the Cannon. I use both the Cannon and Leica cameras and find
the Cannon to be disappointing. Instead of the Cannon, I've swithced to
a an R 70-180 2.8. I find I don't miss the autofocus though the lens is
heavy to carry.

Two professional photographers I know have felt, as I do, that the
images the Cannon render lack zip, crispness and vividness. This is our
opinion, others may disagree.

If you've got to have autofocus, try the new Contax 645 medium format
camera. In my opinoin, the Contax' image quality is considerably bettter
than Cannon's. However, the autofocus is faster on the Cannon and it
follows objects better, but imagae qaulity if not as good.
