Tina,

I hate shooting in the rain, too, though there isn't any choice in these
parts. At the risk of pointing out the obvious, don't forget an umbrella. I
don't have any tips for shooting with one, as I usually just wedge the
handle under my armpit, or under the strap of my shoulder bag, and hope the
wind doesn't pick up. A bar towel in my camera bag comes in handy for wiping
off rain-splat.

Sorry, no tips for transporting gear in a canoe or kayak---I'm allergic to
boats.
