I interpreted the chrome number from Erwin Putz site...and he didn't show the chrome version (for either the early or late 35/1.4 ASPH), but the early black version was 11873, so I mistakenly assumed the chrome one was 83... I checked the new Leica lense brochure, and that confirms my mistake. That brings up the question, why would a dealer pay $1900 for this lense? I knew the early lense was marked aspherical, but I didn't know they spelled it completely out on the box.
