Subject: [Leica]XTOL Stock or dilute?OT

I recently bought some XTOL based on the rave reviews of the LUG.

The first rolls I processed were done 1:1..and showed a fair amount of
grain. I then tried stock, and liked the improvement. Last night I tried a
solution that was about 25% more concentrated than stock and am getting the
results I desired. (Somewhat snappier negs to compensate for old Elmar
contrast levels and fine grain)

That said, why do many photographers dilute? What advantage does this
practice give? Is this just economizing or are there performance advantages
I have not realized?

PS in comparison to my experiences with D76 I find XTOL a bit lacking in
accutance, but of low grain when used stronger than stock. I'd love to hear
other experiences with these developers. Delta 100 and Tri-X are my films
of choice by the way..

Best wishes
Dan States
