I have one and this doesn't happen.  I even get the half stop readouts (two 
shutter speeds blinking) in manual mode.  There are three possible 
explanations for what you observed - 1) you were below the 1/4 sec 
threshold in the display, in which case it stays on 4 (blinking); 2) the 
Konica lens is clicked in half stops and you were changing a half stop; 3) 
the demo was damaged or defective.
