I wonder how many photos were missed because the batteries were dead in the
automatic re-wind cameras?

True, Tina...But remember, it was possible to do a pretty fast manual rewind
on the Nikons even if the motor failed - it wasn't until all the useful
manual controls were taken off the cameras that they became doorstops if the
batteries died...:-)
