Subject: [Leica] My new R8

Following a couple of postings that I have made on here, and the adverse
comments about Leica USA, I just want to put in a word of praise for Leica
UK who have been extremely helpful to me over the last few days with a
couple of queries. All my new gear (including the Summilux 50mm f1.4 - see
below) is covered by the Passport scheme, which in the case of the R8 body
they have automatically extended to the 5 year period from its original 2
years. I think that is good service, but then I may be biased.

The original purchase of the R8 body and two lenses was made possible by my
wife, who obviously loves me more than I realised (foolish woman!), giving
me £1100 ($1750) from money inherited from her mother to have something to
remember her by. The Summilux, by the way, was traded in by its previous
owner as part of the original deal with my local camera shop and I ignored
it as I simply knew I could not afford it, and I did have the 28 - 70mm
zoom. It was there less than 3 months old with 40% off its new price and
whilst I wanted it you have to draw the line somewhere! That was on the
Friday, and over the weekend my wife gently quizzed me over the lens and
what it was useful for. On the Monday she said "I am sure Mum would have
wanted you to have that as well" and we went in and bought it. Before any
one asks, my wife is not available for purchase as I am keeping hold of her
(at least until the inheritance is spent!)
