If you want a true "R" then get an R3. They are reliable and inexpensive. An R camera works best with 3 cam, 3rd cam (sometimes called R cam) and ROM lenses. The SL is designed for 2 cam but still gives full function with 3 cam (not R cam) but does not work with ROM lenses.
