Never underestimate the power of simplicity!
Point your strobe at the ceiling and rubber band a white 3x5 card to the
back of it. You get nice soft overhead light from the bounce, and can adjust
the amount of key by moving the white card up and down to expose more or
less!
Combing this with ambient, and the results from this are so subtle that very
often you can't tell flash has been used at all. Rather similar to indirect
window light.
