Subject: [Leica] Lens testing

I have always been amazed at the time and effort that goes into the
discussion of lens resolution, pincusion, barrell distortion, etc....

Whether its Nikon, Canon, or Leica everyone seems so concerned that their
lens resolves so many mm. The bottom line is very, very few people can ever
tell the difference in those things. As for contrast and general sharpness
of a lens this of course is very obvious when you compare a Leica lens to
those of Nikon or Canon...This being one of the reasons I am moving away
from Nikon for everything but sports, and buying leica M equipment.

I think maybe this is done so people have conversation material at a party,
or self satisfaction that their lens can resolve 2mm more than anyone
elses....even though that camera id rarely removed from the bag...if one did
remove it and use it it would resolve quite well.....but then it would get
dusty and they'd have to clean it:)

The bottom line is I have seen tremendous Nikon photos, and very poor Leica
photos. It's the operator for the most part, combined with the proper film,
exposure, and lighting that really makes a great photo...and if its done
with a Leica so much the better.

Anyone who wants to see some average to good photography with Nikon
equipment visit my web site: Soon to change when excellent photos with Leica
lenses become available
