This is one strange outcome of Leica going public in 1996. This is also the explanation of why Leica Camera changed its logo from the lovely script to the ugly gray block letters with the red Leica dot. So if Leica AG is bought out by a foreign entity (Japanese), the name may not be part of the deal! Bill Rosauer
