The measuring area is that of the 12mm circle in the center of the first
shutter curtain. Boroworring verbatim from Guenter Osterloh: "With a
lens set at infinity, the respective measurement spot diameter
corresponds to approximately two thirds of the height of the
corresponding frame. The diameter of the measurement spot decreases in
relation to its respective bright line frame as the lens is focused on
nearer subjects, until it amounts to only about half the height of that
frame when the lens is set at its shortest focusing distance."
