Subject: [Leica] Some more lens observations (Jupiter, Elmarit, Summicron)

Folks:

Thanks for all the comments. So here a few more personal observations.
Tell me that I'm wrong.

I like the Jupiter 85/2 lens (Jupiter 9?). To me it's almost more of a
Leica lens than the Elmarit-M (90/2.8). The Jupiter is a little softer
(just a little), but produces a nice glow. The Elmarit-M is veeery sharp.
When I go traveling, I take the Jupiter (which costs about US$100 to
replace and offers one more F-stop). Jupiter mechanics of course are much
lower quality--but for me fully acceptable.

I like the Summicron 2/35 asph., BUT I am always worried about the
protruding rear element. Every time I mount that lens on the body I'm
worried that by accident I might scratch it.

Finally, I believe that usability is an important consideration in
photography. Hence, lens caps should not frequently fall off (Heliar), and
rear caps should screw on easily (they are soft plastic on both Heliar and
Skopar and don't screw on easily). But I also shot several of my most
favorite pictures with either the Heliar or Skopar.
