There is a huge guide of duties and amounts on the US customs website. Many cameras are duty free. DO NOT count on local customs. They are small time government employees and just find the first camera in the directory and charge you an amount. The key is to find the exact code in the database first, and then when it's shipped have it described exactly as the customs description and put the code on the way bill. When I bought my $4,000 Sylvestri from Robert White my local agent Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan gave me an estimate of 4%, it was in fact duty free, and I paid nothing.
