It depends on what you ship, new or used, and where from. There is a 
huge guide of duties and amounts on the US customs website. Many 
cameras are duty free.

DO NOT count on local customs. They are small time government 
employees and just find the first camera in the directory and charge 
you an amount. The key is to find the exact code in the database 
first, and then when it's shipped have it described exactly as the 
customs description and put the code on the way bill. When I bought 
my $4,000 Sylvestri from Robert White my local agent Sault Ste. 
Marie, Michigan gave me an estimate of 4%, it was in fact  duty free, 
and I paid nothing.
