     eric;
re: marshall & rock promoters ruining the kind of shooting
     that he used to do,
...is this because the current day promoters make the shooters
sign a form indicating that they will not use their work for
     personal gain ?

as a note, i had the pleasure of shooting the '83 san francisco
blues fest. along side jim & was a little awed by his presence.
i can still remember the first time i saw the back cover of the
first moby grape album (remember those ?) from that point on it
didn't seem like his name was everywhere, it _was_.
we spoke only a for a couple of minutes. i think the real reason
he attended this particular show (i'd never seen him @ any prior
s.f.b.f. 's) was that albert king was the headliner & bill graham
of himself w/ albert. when they finally got together, nobody was
taking direction for the shoot and finally bill looked at the
bunch of us and said "...fellas, you want the _real_ shot ?
here it is..." bill pulled a handkerchief out of his pocket, bent
over and started polishing alberts shoes. everybody fell out.
somebody managed to press the button a few times while this was
     going on.
not many people believe the claim that there's a picture of
bill graham shining albert king's shoes.
maybe i should arrange for jim to get one of those.

     best
