Having had a nearly new Sigma 70-210 f2.8 APO zoom actually fall in half
while in use, I can only concur.

Other than that, though, this particular lens is very sharp and contrasty,
and once I had replaced the four pissy screws that hold it together, it was
fine again. In my opinion it's a better lens than the older Nikon 80-200
f2.8 that it replaced. Maybe the crack is to tighten everything up as soon
as you get the lens home!

Cheers
