Leica profit (or the lack of it) is in part because the number of Leica users is so low compared to the number of Canon and Nikon users. It's my guess that Leica could do a turn around simply by temporarily stopping R lens production to produce Canon and Nikon mount lenses. Profit on lenses is said to be proportionally greater per unit than on camera bodies. damn, what a concept, making lenses for the popular cameras. the increased sales and profits could fund expanded production facilities.
