The 3.4 is great wide open and does not improve much with storpping down while the 2.8 does. The 2.8 is much better close-up. What is especially appealing to me is the crisp, edge definition of the 3.4. The 2.8 never looks like that. Not a very scientific evaluation, but it is based upon use. Bob Figlio
