However, that is the best choice. I agree with Mike that you will make the best possible images you can make regardless of what focal length you start with. With that in mind, what _I_ did was to purchase the 50 Summicron. I have used it exclusively for almost 2 years before recently purchasing the 35 Summicron ASPH. I really like the 50 mm focal length, I have learned it very well and am just beginning to explore the world of 35 with the new purchase. Could I have done it in reverse order? Sure. There is one complaint I have with the 50 Summicron, especially compared to the new 35 Summicron ASPH - FLARE. Bright, pinpoint sources are handled very well by both lenses. The 50 seems to have a very difficult time with filtered or diffused backlighting behind the subject. Better than most lenses, but not even close to the 35 Summicron ASPH. This may be important for the type of photography you are interested in - maybe not. As to the decision of the 0.72 or 0.85 viewfinder, I decided on the 0.72. I liked being able to shoot with both eyes open on the 0.85, but was not comfortable with the 35 frame. Also, the M is the first camera to help with my tendency to be "tunnel visioned" with my photography. The 0.72 and 50mm lens is the perfect match FOR ME. By the way, do I remember correctly that the Hexar has a 0.60x finder? Hope this helps, Rick
