I just finished my last bottle of the good ole Kodak Film Cleaner -- the
stuff that was banned about 4-5 years ago. I should have stocked up.

It's so expensive, and never in stock anyway.

I just used iso-propanol, the stuff I use to clean the heads on my
reel-to-reel, and it seemed to work just fine. Might it conceivably dissolve
or mark the film base?

The only stuff this wouldn't clear would presumably be gunk that's not
soluble in alcohol, only water, like certain kinds of scum or drying marks.
