Are your eyes side-by-side or one on top of the other? or... Ever see a vertical motion picture screen? It is human nature to "see" in panorama. The only reason I go vertical is when using a wideangle lens to accentuate a strong foreground/background juxtaposition... a technique as opposed to a natural perception.
