Take a look at the "portraits" in news magazines and newspapers. You'll find 
that the traditional head and shoulders, more or less formal portrait is not 
as common as you might think. More often than not, stories are illustrated 
with a wide angle (usually horizontal) "environmental portrait." They have 
definately become a cliche . . .
