Hir first solo album, "Tigerlily" had a track, which was also a single, called "Carnival", with an associated video featuring the utterly delectable Ms. Merchant street shooting with her M3. And the use of the M3 in that way fit perfectly with the song. Her songwriting work touches and captures the human sensibilities in a similar way to work of the best of M-users, from whimsical observations of the human condition, to very focused and compelling arguments on some truly absurd and insane aspects of being human. Ane most things in between. Socially commited to, and involved in, changing things for the better. But, I don't think she belongs to any listserver group to agonize over which type of a particular pencil brand best enables her to write down the words and music. :=) Alistair - -----Original Message----- From: Buzz Hausner [mailto:Buzz@marianmanor.org] Sent: Tuesday, November 09, 1999 12:45 PM To: 'leica-users@mejac.palo-alto.ca.us' Subject: [Leica] Who is Natalie Merchant? Okay, I know I'm going to regret asking, but here goes. Who is Natalie Merchant? Where exactly was she caught using an M3? It shames me to confess, but this may have been the video that started me down the road to Leica ownership. I remember thinking "Hey, she's actually using a Leica in this day and age." Happened to have some---lots, actually---of extra cash at that time, and was open to new, non-SLR experiences. Was in a shop some weeks later and found some Leica gear. Doubt that I would have noticed it had it not been for her beautiful body. Guess I'm vulnerable to product placement. Sure wish I had known how glamorous/fun Leica shooting can be when I started messing with photography. -----Original Message----- From:Stewart, Alistair [SMTP:AStewart@gigaweb.com] Sent:Tuesday, November 09, 1999 10:00 AM To: 'leica-users@mejac.palo-alto.ca.us' Subject: [Leica] Natalie Merchant to subscribe? Remember the "Carnival" video, where she's out on the streets (of NY?) shooting away (poor lens handling technique, btw) with her M3/50 'cron?
