The looks of all consumer products are important to their owners, from
pocket knives to automobiles. That's why good industrial designers make
such nice incomes. After all, who wants to pick up/put on/look at/climb
into something every day of their lives and think, "Good grief it's ugly!"
Pretty makes us feel good, ugly makes us feel bad - given a choice I know
which one I'd pick!

Besides, prettier cameras take prettier pictures - everyone knows that!
