Subject: [Leica] Question about using the Leica M to R adapter

I just purchased (yes on Ebay) an adapter (14167) to use M lenses on my R 
6.2.  However, there were no instructions, and I came to find that the 
increased distance from the R body means that I can't focus an M lens with 
the viewfinder.  Is my only recourse to stop down and set it to the 
hyperfocal distance?  I've searched the Listquest archives, but can't find 
posts relating to using this adapter in actual practice.
