Erwin has already run the comparison.  It's on his web site at

One conclusion is that the GR1 lens is almost as good a 5.6 as the
Elmarit-M at 2.8.

I have a GR1 (the whole camera) and never use it any more.  It's a P&S
with a mediocre finder and a lens that flares like a Texas oil field.
I bought it thinking I'd love it and could use it instead of a wide
angle on my Leica.  Wrong on both counts.  I actually hate the little
sucker, and would rather use my T4 - it at least makes no pretensions
about its station in life.
