They would be further surprised to see the new 50/1.5 asph, 75/2.5, and
35/1.7 asph lenses at their prices.  The latest issue of Asahi Camera
reports "first impressions" on these lenses.  The reporter (a pro who uses
Leica, Contax, and many other brands) comments that they are surprisingly
good in terms of sharpness, contrast, and bokeh.  He even says that he sees
those elegant looks that most of the mordern lenses have left behind.   I
myself had to admit excellent image quality of a portrait shot with the
50/1.5 wide open.  With these lenses and bodies with rangefinders (coming
shortly) and their rumoured AE brothers which were alluded by the CEO of
Cosina several months ago, Cosina will definitely increase the number of
prospective Leica users.  I hope that Leica will always be attractive to
them....
