Julian,
The only advantage the SL might have is that it doesn't have the
split-image rangefinder in the focusing screen which makes it better
with long or slow lenses.  On the other hand, the SL-2 works better with
lenses that are hard to focus because of great depth of field (wide
angles).
You can always have an SL-type screen installed in the SL/2.  The SL-2
has a metering system that's four times more sensitive than the SL and
this can come in handy.  It also has a hot shoe.   On the other hand,
SL's can be terrific buys if you get one that's in good condition.
You pays your money and you takes your choice:-)
