Same with the Fiat mechanic. Of course, since he was trained on and is most familiar with an older model he will tell you its better. The fact is its just more familiar to him. When it breaks is when he makes money. But by that time you have already bought into his comment. - -----Original Message----- From: DonjR43198@aol.com [mailto:DonjR43198@aol.com] Sent: Wednesday, August 11, 1999 3:41 PM To: leica-users@mejac.palo-alto.ca.us Subject: Re: [Leica] Re: Old Leicas and better than the new "Junk" Cameras In a message dated 08/11/1999 5:26:47 PM Central Daylight Time, Greg.Chappell@bankofamerica.com writes: << There ARE more products today made better than comparable products of 50 years ago (cameras included), but just ask people like Sherry Krauter at Golden Touch Camera Repair if that applies to M4's vs. the new M6's being produced today, comparing part to part. You can probably reverse, to some extent, what you said below. I own both an M6 and M4 and LOVE both, but the M4 IS a better built camera. The super accurate meter makes the M6 more convenient, but in most situations I can come close enough without the meter or using an incident reading, and that makes shooting much faster for me. Greg >> It is good to know what those who must work on the M's have to say about the old versus the new and it confirms the fact that "bean couunters" just do not know quality nor how to produce it as reasonable costs.
