a) What model number is it?

It is a IIIf
b) How old it is?
Laney shows it a 1952/53

c) The shutter speed dial is mis-aligned (eg, the pointer looks as if it
is
pointing to 1/200 when it is in fact 1/100). See that there are 3 screws
at
the side of the shuttle dial, can I unscrew them to correct the alignment?
(Better ask first before I do anything stupid. :) )

I will leave this to the experts

c) Can anyone tell me a bit of history on this camera model?

This camera was made from 1950 - 57, and was the first Leica with built in
flash sync, based on your serial number, yours should be a red dial model.
Depending on when yours was made, it may have the international shutter
speeds on the dial, as the transition was in 1952.
Hope this helps,
