generally cost very much?

Mikiro,

I'm late to this thread, having been out of town for a few days, but as far
as I'm concerned if I were limited to only one SLR (as I was for a few
years) it would be the SL. I've had one SL's prism replaced at a
frightening cost, but getting parts doesn't seem to be a problem.

I am more productive using the SL than with other cameras so I'll gladly
pay whatever it takes to keep it working like new. I haven't used the SL2
so I'm not much help deciding between the two. I personally don't like the
split-image focus aid in the SL2 (this can be replaced with an SL
viewscreen) and the SL2's other advantages don't help the type of
photography I do so given limited funds I'd rather buy an SL and LOTS of
Kodachrome instead of the SL2.
