I am looking for information about the 60/2.8 R Macro lens (to match a
R6.2), I am not looking for the 100/2.8 (I know it is a great lens) because
I want the shorter focal length. Is it worth as a general purpose lens
(not
only macro) ? How does it compares against the 100/2.8 (just to have a
reference) ? any comment ?

I've had a 60 macro for nearly 20 years now. Optically I'm delighted with
it: the contrast, detail, flare control, color quality, all well beyond the
N*****s I've used (55 f/3.5, 55 f/2.8, 105 f/4.0) at all distances.
Mechanically, it feels exceptionally solid yet I've had to replace
focussing helicoids twice. I suspect the first repair was not up to Leica
standards (a Leica-trained technician here in Sacramento) because he told
me to "use it as much as you can before the repair warranty is out".
Sherry did the second repair.
