OK, first contribution. When I recieved this Leica (I still think its a III, we
have speeds from 1/500 to 1 second, and it is black), there was no lens cap and
the local shop didn't have anything (Summar 50mm, filter size: very small. BTW
when I was at college a friendly secretary gave me lens caps for the enlarger
lenses for my Zorki. Maybe they would fit the leica..?) so I took a transparent
(more or less) top from a spice jar and filed it down. Next I'll take some photos
with it on, should be 'interesting'. A heavy "soft focus" effect, covers the lens
though. However, I've read on this list that there is some kind of problem with
light getting in when there is no lens / no lens cap / bright sun. What is this
about? I never noticed this with my old Zorki (but then again I wasn't working
with it so...)..? What does the lever (A or R) do? I have too many questions. Can
anyone help..?
Thanks for your time,
Paul.
