Jim-

I've been very happy with the old Vivitar 252, has a hot shoe connection
AND a pc cord. Takes two AA batteries, 2 Auto settings... I think f11 and
f5.6 at 400 ASA... can also be powered with an optional AC cord if you want
to use it off camera, hook a slave to the pc cord and voila!
I use a couple of them to rig a "studio set-up" with no hassle!
Can be had for about $15-25; they're around (I have three of them) don't
get the 253, doesn't have the pc cord.
Measures about 3 1/4" tall, a little under 1 1/4" wide, 3" deep. Oooopss,
jusr re-read your post- this is verticaly oriented-damn! Provides good
coverage though....
