Besides, it helps us learn more about each other. For example, before joining I was told that this was a forum for snots. Instead I've found that most posters here are part photo enthusiast, part antiquarian and maybe just a tiny bit eccentric but in a delightful sort of way. I appreciate talking to folks who take interest and find value in the sort of things most people take for granted. It's almost like an alternate realty that you can become part of for a few hours a night, a few nights a week, a refuge from the other place a watch is something you consult every now and again when you are late, a car is something that takes you to work and shopping, a camera is a thing that you take on vacations to record your presence there and a pen is something you write with. Perhaps some of this is outside the scope of this list. Then again, maybe it overflows the boundaries of the forum format. Perhaps this peculiarity should become a movement. That's right an anti appliance movement, through which every worthy item is afforded a history, a personality and is the object of discussion and debate in a far more interesting world. Are we the Proto Anti-Utilitarians ???>> See Ya Javier No. We are snots. We are in disguise. Why this snotty reputation? Snot has never been an issue or topic of any sort. I, for one, would not post anything about snot. Snotty? The question cannot be answered. Lost of meaningless justifications. This is good for this and this is good for that and this format and that format and the defense of thin air. Other cameras, formats, they are just great. Leica? Hah! Money issues...no. Pros always use their Nikons (a snotty remark) and others retreat into the senselessness of pinholes while the digitals are having fun and the Canons this and the 'blads and the hassies and then the snots. This is good stuff, and people have this variety. But it is the snottiness of the allegiance to, specifically the Leica r/f and it's ins and outs. Here I'm not analyzing the LUG(s)nots The "delight" you mention is the disguise's produce. Its something of an optical sort. I picked up a Nikkor once and it almost flew to the ceiling, it was hollow, stale. High end? Yeah Nikon has this and that you don't know what your talking about I'd like to see you at this time you'd want a Nikkor this and this and that. Leica dips into low end but its a tough one here and leica has a hard deal now. . Still, It is an optical obsession of perfection (except that 40% new are sent back to Leica) and the USE of the M. Sure, a biggie blad will be better due to the law of this and that - but that emphasizes back-aches and/or tripods for a result. The M emphasizes the perfect camera - no not "in its class" apples and oranges are not so dissimilar. Larger formats, the non-snots, think we are jealous of their chromes and this and that. But you can't live with such appliances. Why does the LUG move in mud? Because of snot. Disclaimer: Archive
