Girrard Perregaux, see the reissued Tourbillon with three gold bridges
pocket watch for example. considered by the swiss (Chaux-de-Fonds Horology
museum for example) the finest time-piece ever made. If your heart ticks
at feeling your M6 release, or seeing the mechanism inside, you will have
trouble breathing upon seeing this masterpiece. I am sure your wife will
get gelous if she catches you peeking at a picture of this one :-) A
minimalist watch like Leica is a minimalist camera (at least the
rangefinders). Too bad they only make it in 18K. I will
never afford one of these at $65,000 and growing ( I seem to think that's
what they used to cost last time I heard). And the moment they stop making
it they'll shoot up!
They came up with the high frequency watch in the '60 (that means 10ticks
per second, or as they say 36,000 vibration per hour(!)) And they designed
the first mass-produced quartz watch in 1969. And so they imposed the
frequency of the quartz (32.77 kHz (approximately)) which all quartz
watches use nowadays.
Sort of like Leica and 24X36mm format!
