Andrew,

I have lived in my current house for 4 years now and have never experienced
water quality problems; in any event, I always use distilled water for
everything except the wash. I spoke with the owner of the place where I have
my slides processed, and his hypothesis was that I had neglected to oxygenate
the bleach-fix by shaking the bottle vigorously. I guess I need to do some
testing.
