Don:

The problem is with plastic reels.  As stated by many, when you use photo
flo with plastic reels, they get hard to load.  Not only does it build up,
but some wetting agents may react with the plastic, as for example the
final rinses with formaldehyde.  

In the case of Jobo machines, the build up can occur in the arears that are
touched by chemicals.  This buildup then makes the residues of the other
process chemicals stick and cause contamination of other processes.
