Hi Dan, My batteries were wearing out more frequently than that, and seem to be lasting longer now. Don't have the answer to "Why?" Just looked in the Hove book on the M6 and didn't find it there. I just know that I was repla- cing batteries every 6 months before I started setting it to "B" & leaving the shutter uncocked> MK
